To be an artist means never to avert one’s eyes

An Artist in Tempe

The Brief

Create a cinematic tribute to the career of lifelong Tempe Artist Marrie Navarre while showcasing my client’s work designing her backyard studio…without making it an overt ‘advertisement.”

The approach was to seamlessly intertwine Marie’s artistic reflections while my client’s architectural work played a subtle supporting character, its presence woven into the fabric of Marie’s creative journey.

The Film features a it’s share of B-Roll highlighting the textured concrete cube that makes up the studio’s facade draped in living greenery and the serene water relfections created when the monthly cycle of river water floods Marie’s backyard.

Chirping birds and other ambient sounds cradle the viewer as shots of Tempe’s wildlife scenes ad context to Marie’s inspiration culminating in an intimate look at creativity shaped by both environment and vision.
