“I obsess about things. The only way to get rid of it is to make it”

Monetizing Our Dreams
Raul Santos is a Miami-based abstract painter who utilizes unique geometric shapes on his canvases. Although he has some name recognition in the local arts scene, he was still considered “up and coming” and was slacking a bit on developing the marketing materials that would get his work in front of galleries and important decision-makers. The ones who award grants, fellowships, and “artist in residence” opportunities. You know, the kind of things that give artists the security to focus their energy on creating their best work.
This mini-documentary focuses on the method of Raul’s madness and gives insight into what makes him tick. A significant part of what makes art appealing and valuable is the story behind any given piece. Patrons love the personal connection they feel with the art when they have a glimpse into the process. Raul tells us about his past, his aesthetic principles, and his hopes for the future while our b-roll follows him throughout the city and the studio as we visit his work and witness the creation of new pieces.
